Since 2018 we have launched this challenge to the community of Aveiro, a small gesture to support local commerce while contributing, simultaneously, to the reforestation of the region of Aveiro. With the motto “Give the forest a break”, and in collaboration with Agrupamento de Escolas de Rio Novo do Príncipe - Cacia and the City Hall of Aveiro, the citizens of Aveiro are called to play an active role in this environmental awareness initiative, which has been growing year after year. This edition had about 20 participating establishments throughout the city of Aveiro.

For each 5 euros purchase or more, made in any of the adherent establishments, participants were offered a leaflet with a Waste Separation Guide, prepared with the support of Sociedade Ponto Verde and also a small aromatic plant, in a biodegradable pot, accompanied by a small card with care and survival tips. Thyme, oregano, arugula or parsley were the species chosen as symbols of participation in our project, purchased from Plantaveiro.

As usual, this initiative is held to coincide with Black Friday, calling for more conscious and sustainable consumption in local commerce. At Agora Aveiro this is what we believe in, and this is the will that drives us. And you, have you given the forest a break?

Green Friday” is part of the project Plantar o Futuro(Plant your Future), organised in collaboration with Agrupamento de Escolas de Rio Novo do Príncipe - Cacia and  City Hall of Aveiro. It’s sponsored by  Grestel and Bongás Energias as Main Sponsor, and Indasa and AREADOBRAS as Golden Sponsor.  It also had the support of  Instituto Português do Desporto e da Juventude, I.P..
